Where We Are Today
Our business began in 2001 as a sole proprietorship founded by Mr. Kanakasingam Suganthon to supply edible oils. Over time, it grew into Venkadeshwara Agro Industry Limited, and we expanded into manufacturing at our factory in Jaffna.
Today, we supply edible oils and bakery fat products under our ENOVA brand to food businesses and households across Sri Lanka.
How Our Business Began
In the early years, we procured and distributed edible oils, working closely with customers to understand their needs. These relationships helped us recognise the importance of quality products and a reliable supply.
As demand grew, we began importing edible oils in 2013. In 2014, the business was incorporated as a private limited company, providing a stronger foundation for expansion.
Bringing Our Manufacturing
Plans to Life
Leveraging our experience, we took the next step towards making our own products. In 2018, we began building our refinery at the Atchuveli Industrial Zone in Jaffna. To prepare for production, we expanded our oil storage facilities to a capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes in 2020.
Our plans progressed further in 2021, when we secured a grant of LKR 100 million to help establish a solvent extraction plant. This support came through the Agriculture Sector Modernization Project of the State Ministry of Development of Minor Crops, facilitated by the World Bank.
By 2023, we had completed both the refinery and the solvent extraction plant. With these facilities in place, we could add oil refining and manufacturing to our trading and importing activities and begin developing a wider product range.
This investment also brought opportunities beyond our factory. It created jobs and work for local suppliers, allowing the community around us to share in the growth of our business.
Expanding Our Product Range.
Reaching More Customers
In 2025, we increased refinery capacity and added margarine production and bottling facilities, broadening our range for cooking, baking and commercial food preparation.
Today, we offer edible oils, margarine, bakery compounds, vegetable ghee, creaming fat and pan lubricants. We combine our own production with local and international sourcing to meet the needs of our customers.
Through ENOVA, our food product brand, we bring our edible oils and manufactured bakery products to market in bulk and retail packs. We serve wholesalers, distributors, hotels, restaurants, bakeries, food manufacturers and selected retail outlets, with pack sizes suited to commercial production and household kitchens.
Alongside our food products, we supply refining and extraction by-products, including palm stearin, free fatty acids, rice bran wax and rice bran animal feed, for industrial processing and feed applications in local and selected export markets.
At our factory, we use wood and paddy husk to generate the heat needed for oil refining.
